Common problems in the use of aluminized film

Vacuum aluminized film is a kind of packaging material with low price, beautiful appearance, excellent performance and strong practicability because it has the characteristics of both plastic film and metal. Therefore, aluminized film has been widely used in the packaging of food, medicine, chemical products, such as fast food, tea, coffee and cosmetics.

Common problems and solutions in dry composite application of aluminized film:

1. After compounding, the aluminized layer of the aluminized film migrates

Cause of problem:

(1) The bonding strength between the aluminum plating layer and the base film is poor.

(2) The selected adhesive is inappropriate.

(3) The curing time of the composite film is too long.

(4) Excessive glue application, insufficient drying of adhesive, and gradual penetration of residual solvent into aluminum plating layer, resulting in migration of aluminum plating layer.

(5) If the tension is not properly controlled, the base film of the aluminum plating film will elastically deform under a large tension, thus affecting the adhesion of the aluminum plating layer, which is also one of the factors that promote the migration of the aluminum plating layer of the aluminum plating film.

(1) Replace the aluminum plating film with better quality.

(2) Replace the appropriate adhesive, preferably the special adhesive for aluminum plating film.

(3) Properly increase the curing temperature and shorten the curing time, accelerate the curing reaction speed of the adhesive, prevent the adhesive from gradually penetrating into the aluminum plating layer of the aluminum plating film, and weaken the adhesion between the base film of the aluminum plating film and the aluminum plating layer.

(4) Control the amount of glue applied, or adjust the drying temperature, ventilation and lamination linear speed of the dry lamination process to ensure that the adhesive is fully dry, control the amount of residual solvent to the minimum, and reduce its impact on the aluminum plating layer.

(5) Adjust the tension setting, and pay attention to the appropriate small tension to prevent large elastic deformation of the aluminum plating film.

2. Spots appear on the composite membrane

Cause of problem:

(1) Improper selection of adhesive, poor affinity of ordinary adhesive to aluminum plating layer and poor coating performance, if the coating is uneven, spots will appear.

(2) There is a lot of residual solvent in the glue. After the printing film is combined, the ink layer is soaked by the residual solvent in the glue, which may cause spots.

(3) The hiding power of ink is insufficient, especially for light color ink. Light passes through the ink layer and is reflected back by the aluminum layer, resulting in spots.

(4) Insufficient or uneven gluing, and bubbles are mixed in the composite film.

Terms of settlement:

(1) Select appropriate adhesive, such as special adhesive for aluminum plating film.

(2) Properly increase the drying temperature of the drying channel or reduce the composite linear speed to ensure that the adhesive can be fully dried.

(3) Select the ink with strong hiding power or thicken the ink layer.

(4) Properly increase the amount of adhesive applied, and check the state of rubber pressure roller to ensure uniform adhesive application.

3. Poor peel strength between composite films

Cause of problem:

(1) The aluminum plating layer is weak and easy to fall off.

(2) Improper adhesive type and quality.

(3) The adhesive is not dried sufficiently, and the Residual Ethyl Acetate permeates into the ink layer, softening, loosening and even delamination of the printing ink, resulting in poor peel fastness of the composite film.

(4) Insufficient glue application will affect the bonding strength of the composite film.

(5) The purity of the diluent ethyl ester is not high, and the content of active substances such as water or alcohol is high, which consumes part of the curing agent, resulting in an inappropriate actual ratio of the main agent to the curing agent in the adhesive, thus reducing the composite strength.

(6) The surface temperature of the composite steel roll is too low, or the composite pressure is too small, which will also cause poor composite strength.

(7) The composite film is not cured completely, which affects the composite strength.

Terms of settlement:

(1) Replace the high-quality aluminum coating.

(2) Replace the high-quality special adhesive for aluminum plating film to improve the composite strength.

(3) Adjust the compounding process, increase the drying temperature of the drying channel, or appropriately reduce the compounding linear speed to ensure that the adhesive can be fully dried.

(4) Properly increase the amount of glue applied.

(5) Replace the diluent with qualified quality, and strictly control the testing of diluent.

(6) Appropriately increase the surface temperature of the composite steel roll or increase the composite pressure.

(7) Properly raise the curing temperature to ensure that the composite film can be fully cured.
